Grigoryan to Pashinyan: The Government's Program is Depraved
Anna Grigoryan, the head of the "Armenia" faction, directed a question at Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the adoption of a new Constitution and the electoral mandate received by the government. Grigoryan stated that, in her assessment, the government's presented program is "depraved in terms of the essence of the Armenian state," linking it to the government's positions on the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Church, and territorial issues.
The MP insisted that according to the election results, the "Civil Contract" party did not receive a constitutional majority; therefore, according to her, it cannot claim that citizens granted the government the authority to adopt a new Constitution. "The people did not give you that majority, hence you have not received the authority to amend the Constitution," stated Grigoryan, describing the proposed Constitution by the government as "Aliyevian."
In response to the MP, Pashinyan noted that the adoption of a new Constitution was included in the pre-election program of the "Civil Contract" party, and the final decision must be made by a referendum. The Prime Minister then criticized the previous authorities and Grigoryan's political force, disputing their assessments regarding legitimacy.
Pashinyan also declared that, in his estimation, the "Kocharian-Serzh clan needs to be disarmed," adding that this is required by the judicial system of Armenia. In response to Grigoryan's formulation of the "Aliyevian Constitution," Pashinyan asserted that it was the previous authorities who linked Armenia's policies with Azerbaijan's agenda by negotiating over the return of territories for years. "If there is a force in Armenia that moves according to the Azerbaijani agenda, that force is you," Pashinyan stated.
