Armen Ashtoyan's lawyer, Tigran Atanesyan, has announced that the judge involved in the criminal case related to Brusov University has recused himself. After the court session, Atanesyan stated to reporters that, in his assessment, there is no evidence of a crime in the charges brought against Ashtoyan.

"Every political case has something in it. Even Armen Ashtoyan's other case, which is also laughable, has some amount of money involved for which property was purchased. In this case, there is nothing. During the pre-trial detention hearing, since there was a money laundering charge, I asked the investigator to show which money is dirty, and he could not provide any evidence. There is no case here, and there cannot be, everything has been so legal," said Atanesyan.

It is noteworthy that the Vice-President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashtoyan, was once again detained on June 5, 2026, ahead of the parliamentary elections. He is involved in a criminal process related to Brusov University.
