Samvel Terteryan Defeats Azerbaijani Wrestler to Become World U-20 Champion
The representative of Armenia, Samvel Terteryan (77 kg), has become the champion of the World U-20 Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship held in Bratislava, Slovakia.
In the final, the Armenian wrestler defeated the Azerbaijani Javida Nahmatov with a score of 1:1. On his way to the final, Terteryan had victories over wrestlers from Egypt (9:0), the USA (6:0), Hungary (5:0), and Georgia (6:0).
Shortly after, Yurick Petrosyan (87 kg) will also compete for the U-20 world championship title, facing Japanese Taizo Yoshida in the final. Yurick Mkhitaryan (67 kg) and Erik Ter-Matevosyan (97 kg) each achieved three victories before losing in the semifinals and will compete for the bronze medal on August 18.
Gor Khachatryan (72 kg), who lost in the initial match, has the chance to fight for a bronze medal and will participate in a consolation match. Armenia's last two representatives, Marat Ajemyan (60 kg) and Vahe Hovhannisyan (82 kg), will enter the competition on August 18.
