According to information from the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," Hovhannes Sahakyan, who arrived in Armenia from Russia three months ago on election day, has been unable to return to the Russian Federation.

Sources report that Sahakyan's lawyer has filed a complaint regarding the procedural restrictions imposed on him with the Court of Appeals and is awaiting the court's decision. Meanwhile, the pre-trial investigation has made no actual progress.

It is worth recalling that during an interview with "Shant" TV on election day, Hovhannes Sahakyan stated that he had come from Moscow to participate in the voting and planned to return to Russia the same day. "We came from Moscow to vote; we will return in the evening at 7," he said.

In response to a journalist’s question about whether he was returning on the same day, Sahakyan replied, "Definitely, because the situation might get complicated; we are with the kids, and we don’t want to get stuck in difficulties." However, later when he attempted to leave from Zvartnots Airport for Moscow, law enforcement arrested him.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Armenia stated that based on a report of an apparent crime, H. S., according to preliminary data, was aware of the crime being prepared but did not inform the relevant authorities in Armenia.

Based on this report, a criminal case was initiated in the Main Department for the Investigation of Crimes Against the State, Constitutional Order, and Public Security of the RA Investigative Committee, under Article 473, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, for failure to report a crime.

By the investigator's decision, Hovhannes Sahakyan was arrested, and he was subsequently charged, with a travel ban imposed as a preventive measure.

Today, around three months after the incident, Hovhannes Sahakyan continues to remain in Armenia.
