Spain Returns Majority of Illegal Migrants Arrived in Ceuta to Morocco

Spain's Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has announced that approximately 70,000 of the 72,000 illegal migrants who arrived in Ceuta have been returned to Morocco.

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that entering Spain through Ceuta and Melilla does not grant the right to remain in the country, transfer to the Spanish mainland, or freely move within Europe.

According to the minister, EU countries have positively evaluated the actions taken by the Spanish government during Ceuta's migration crisis. Simultaneously, the Spanish government announced that an additional €25 million would be dedicated to supporting unaccompanied minor migrants in Ceuta.

It is also noted that a 500-meter-long floating barrier has been installed near the shores of Ceuta to prevent illegal entry by sea. Recent reports indicate that the number of casualties during attempts to enter Ceuta has reached 75.

Ceuta, located on the northern coast of Africa, is part of Spain and the European Union, and has long remained one of the main routes for migration from Africa to Europe.
