Government Imposes 6-Month Ban on Tomato Paste Imports

The Armenian government has approved a decision to impose a temporary ban on the import of tomato paste for a period of six months, starting from August 3, 2026. This applies to products classified under EAEU Commodity Nomenclature 2002 90, including goods imported from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to the government, the aim of this decision is to ensure equal competitive conditions for tomato paste importers and local producers using domestic raw materials, as well as to regulate the process of tomato procurement.

It has been noted that the large volumes of imported tomato paste and the difficulties faced by local products in terms of sales and export have led to a decrease in the demand for tomato procurement, market imbalance, and problems for agricultural producers.
