The European Union has warned that the entirety of Europe could soon find itself engulfed in fire due to forest fires. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing experts.

“There is a risk that ‘all of Europe will be on fire’,” the media outlet quoted Maria Zuberi, head of the EU's emergency response coordination center.

Guillermo Rein, a professor at Imperial College London, cautioned that the depletion of national forces, particularly aviation, would hinder European countries from supporting each other, which “significantly reduces Europe’s ability to extinguish major forest fires.”

It was emphasized that Greece, Italy, and parts of Central Europe will become especially vulnerable to forest fires.

Europe is experiencing one of the hottest periods in recent years, with Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Greece suffering the most. French forests are currently in flames. As declared by President Emmanuel Macron, the country is facing a record number of forest fires, the highest since the end of World War II.
