Russia Continues to Disrupt the European Future of the Country: Kallas' Summary Statement
The head of European Union diplomacy, Kaia Kallas, presented the results of the 8th summit of the European Political Community held in Yerevan on her Facebook page.
She noted that Armenia is in a complex pre-election situation, accompanied by hybrid threats, including foreign influence operations and misinformation campaigns. According to Kallas, a core group on Armenia met to coordinate support directed towards the country.
She emphasized that Europe consists not only of geography but also of common values and principles. The Yerevan meeting was attended by 48 leaders from across the continent, as well as Canada as a guest. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation amid geopolitical transformations, democratic resilience, and economic and energy security issues.
The summit also addressed Ukraine. The issue of additional support in the fight against Russian aggression was discussed with President Zelensky and his partners. Kallas stressed that the €90 billion loan is vital for Ukraine’s defense and budgetary needs, and aid will continue as long as Putin does not recognize the fruitlessness of his war.
Regarding Armenia, the diplomat added that the EU-Armenia partnership has developed at an unprecedented pace over the past year. Investments are being made in the country's resilience, and support is being provided for the fairness of the upcoming elections.
Concerning Moldova, Kallas stated that Russia continues to undermine the country’s European future through destabilization campaigns. She noted that European integration and security are interconnected.
“Although the meeting of the European Political Community has concluded, we continue our work in Yerevan with the first-ever EU-Armenia summit,” Kaja Kallas summarized.
