New Decision: Russia Changes Temporary Residency Period for Foreign Drivers
The Government of the Russian Federation has extended the temporary residency period for drivers from CIS countries and Georgia, who are engaged in international road transportation, to up to 180 days within a calendar year.
According to the text of the decision, “Citizens of CIS member states, as well as citizens of Georgia, who are professional drivers involved in international road transportation and have arrived in the Russian Federation without a visa requirement, the temporary residency period in the Russian Federation is extended to a total of 180 days within a calendar year, provided that these foreign citizens apply in due form for entry into the Russian Federation and for the purpose of staying (residing) in the Russian Federation.”
The government has added that this decision will come into effect on June 30, 2026.
