VIDEO. We Will Continue and Complete the Demarcation. Nikol Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, delivered a speech at an event commemorating the formation of the border guard troops of the National Security Service.
He noted that for the first time since independence, all border crossing points in the republic are being monitored and operated exclusively by the Armenian border guard troops. According to the head of government, there has been a demarcated and delineated 12 km section with Azerbaijan for the past two years, where border guards are performing their duties.
Pashinyan emphasized that this is the only section of the border between the two countries where armed forces personnel serve without bulletproof vests and helmets, and where magazine holders are kept in bags.
The Prime Minister announced that the aim is to hand over all border sections to the responsibility of the border guard troops and to logically complete the demarcation process with Azerbaijan within reasonable timeframes. Additionally, on the agenda is the completion of the demarcation of the border with Georgia, for which there are already agreements with the Georgian side.
According to Pashinyan, this will conclude the demarcation of borders, enabling the state to focus more confidently on its development agenda within internationally recognized territories.
