UAE Requests Assistance from the US
The United Arab Emirates has initiated discussions with the United States regarding financial support in the event that the US and Israel’s conflict with Iran leads to a deeper crisis in the Gulf country. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing American officials.
According to the publication, Khaled Mohamed Balama, the head of the UAE Central Bank, discussed the possibility of creating a currency swap line during meetings last week in Washington with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen and other officials from the Federal Reserve.
The Emirates are reportedly concerned that the US-Iran conflict could deter investors and affect the UAE's status as a global financial hub.
