Iran Agrees to Alleviation of Uranium Enrichment Levels
The Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Nikzad, announced that Tehran has agreed to the alleviation of the process concerning approximately 450 kilograms of enriched uranium as a gesture of goodwill.
According to the Iranian official, this step was taken to reduce the tensions surrounding the nuclear program; however, later on, the American side rejected the agreements reached. The project foresaw the establishment of a special consortium within Iranian territory to carry out uranium processing.
Representatives from both the U.S. and Saudi Arabia were expected to participate in the program, which could have served as a new format for international cooperation in ensuring nuclear security. Additionally, the status of the Strait of Hormuz was discussed during the negotiations.
Nikzad pointed out that Washington proposed to set a special legal regime for the strait, considering the U.S. role. Nevertheless, the Iranian legislator reiterated the country's firm stance, emphasizing that the presence of external forces in the Persian Gulf and the strait is unacceptable for their state.
