US Refuses to Unfreeze Any Iranian Assets: CBS
The United States has not agreed to unfreeze any Iranian assets, a senior US official stated in an interview with CBS News. According to the official, such an arrangement has not been confirmed by Washington.
At the same time, US Vice President Jay D. Vance met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif; however, negotiations have not yet begun, and no specific agreements have been discussed.
Earlier, Reuters reported that a senior Iranian source claimed the US had agreed to unfreeze Iranian assets held in Qatar and other foreign banks. This move was presented as a sign of Washington's 'seriousness' in the context of the upcoming talks in Islamabad.
According to the same source, the unfreezing of assets is tied to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is expected to become one of the key topics of negotiations. Another Iranian source indicated that discussions may involve approximately $6 billion in funds frozen in Qatar, though this information has not been confirmed by the US.
