Iranians Say One Thing, Do Another: White House Spokesperson
The White House has announced that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened urgently, swiftly, and safely. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during a press briefing, commenting on reports from Iranian state media regarding a potential closure of the strait.
Jean-Pierre noted that the U.S. President had been informed of these reports prior to her remarks and emphasized that such a situation is unacceptable for Washington. The White House representative also indicated that Iran's public statements do not align with information conveyed in private communications.
According to her, there has been an increase in maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz throughout the day. Jean-Pierre reiterated the President's demand that the strait remain open under immediate and safe conditions. At the same time, she stated that the President has been privately informed that the publicly disseminated information is false. The White House thus asserts that official public statements and signals received through closed channels contradict each other.
