Iran Will Not Relinquish Uranium Enrichment, Says Foreign Minister

Iran has no intention of giving up its uranium enrichment. This was stated by Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi while addressing the demands raised during negotiations with the United States.

According to him, Washington had previously insisted that Tehran cease the uranium enrichment process; however, this approach has been unacceptable for Iran. Araghchi noted that during the last meeting, the Iranian side clearly and firmly presented the country’s stance.

The Foreign Minister conveyed that the technology for uranium enrichment is a scientific achievement developed within Iran, resulting from the long-term work of Iranian specialists. He emphasized that this is not an imported product that can simply be abandoned, leaving Iran dependent on external sources once again.

Araghchi highlighted that Iranian scientists and citizens have lost their lives amid the events surrounding the nuclear program; yet, despite these losses, Iran has continued its activities. He stated that the right to peacefully use nuclear energy and to enrich uranium has become a fundamental issue for the country, which Tehran will not relinquish.
