Lawsuit Filed by HETC Against Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan
The owners of "Electric Networks of Armenia" (HETC) have filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan. According to the information from the "Datalex" judicial information system, the lawsuit was submitted to the court on January 15 and assigned to Judge Samvel Babayan of the Yerevan Civil Court.
The plaintiffs demand that the court obligate Papoyan to publicly retract what they consider defamatory statements made during his interview with Petros Ghazaryan. Previously, the owners of HETC refuted Papoyan’s claim that the company is somehow robbing the Armenian people. The plaintiffs argue that such statements are defamatory and do not reflect reality.
In addition to the denial, the plaintiffs are seeking 6 million drams in compensation.
It is worth noting that the National Assembly approved a package of amendments and additions to the laws on the "Regulatory Authority for Public Services" and "Energy" in the second reading and in full on July 3, with 65 votes in favor, 27 against, and 0 abstentions (in other words, the stateization project of HETC). On July 18, it became known that Romanos Petrosyan, who had been dismissed from the position of head of the State Supervision Service, was appointed as the temporary manager of "Electric Networks of Armenia". The commission has also initiated proceedings against HETC based on the government's submitted report.
