Police Discover 438 Intoxicated Drivers Last Week
From January 5 to 12, during operations in the capital, Yerevan police identified 4,241 traffic violations, moving 112 vehicles to designated zones. Specifically, 227 intoxicated drivers were discovered, along with 245 driving without a valid driver's license and one individual driving with a fake driver's license. This information was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Other violations included 60 related to registration numbers, 476 for not wearing seatbelts, 12 for driving without a child safety seat, 469 for smoking while driving, 298 for using a mobile phone while driving, 19 for pedestrians crossing in non-designated areas, and 1,552 other violations. Additionally, 166 vehicles were operated without mandatory insurance, 233 had not passed technical inspection, 95 had faulty lights, 69 had tinted windshields and side windows, and 198 were operating without winter tires. One driver was fined for using non-compliant additional amplifiers while driving.
During the same period, police in the regions identified 11,373 traffic violations, moving 233 vehicles to designated areas. They discovered 211 intoxicated drivers, 343 without a driver's license, and 9 driving with a fake license.
Other violations included 72 related to registration numbers, 2,588 for not wearing seatbelts, 112 for driving without a child safety seat, 369 for smoking while driving, 415 for using a mobile phone while driving, 22 for pedestrians crossing in non-designated areas, 1,220 for speeding, and 3,484 other violations. Additionally, 341 vehicles were operated without mandatory insurance, 1,172 had not passed technical inspection, 708 had faulty lights (including 12 trucks), 132 had tinted windshields and side windows, and 637 were operating without winter tires. Thirty drivers were fined for using non-compliant additional amplifiers while driving. Furthermore, 54 individuals were arrested on various suspicions and taken to community police departments.
