Excluding Russia from the List of 'Direct Threats' to the United States is a Positive Step, Peskov
The Kremlin considers the change in national security strategy by the Trump administration, which no longer labels Russia as a 'direct threat', to be a positive move. This assessment was provided by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian president, in an interview with TASS.
“We consider this a positive step,” he emphasized.
In early December, the United States released its new National Security Strategy, approved in November. Among other things, it calls for cooperation with Moscow on issues of strategic stability.
The document states that the most important U.S. interest is the prompt cessation of military operations in Ukraine, aimed at stabilizing the economies of European countries, preventing escalation or expansion of the conflict, and 'restoring strategic stability in relations with Russia.'
