Germany Considers Sending Troops to Ukraine a Challenge
The potential deployment of German troops to Ukraine poses a challenge for the country due to a shortage of personnel, according to Andreas Schwarz, a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) who deals with budgetary and defense matters.
Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated after a meeting in Washington regarding Ukraine that the issue of who and how much will participate in Ukraine’s security assurances will be discussed with European partners and the U.S. government.
Merz also expressed his intention to discuss the matter with coalition partners in Berlin before any decisions requiring a mandate, which would be made by the German Bundestag, are taken. At the same time, he emphasized that it is still early to provide a final answer to this question.
It was previously reported that 10 European countries will send troops to Ukraine.
