Rubio Calls for Concrete Actions
The U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has held phone conversations with India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. During these talks, he emphasized the urgent importance of de-escalating tensions and expressed Washington’s support for direct dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad. This was reported by TASS.
“The Secretary emphasized the necessity of immediate de-escalation. He expressed U.S. support for direct talks between India and Pakistan and encouraged ongoing efforts to improve communication,” stated the announcement by State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce.
In his conversation with India’s Foreign Minister Jaishankar, Secretary Rubio reaffirmed the United States' commitment to cooperate with India in combating terrorism. In his dialogue with the Pakistani Prime Minister, Secretary Rubio urged Pakistan to take concrete steps to cease any support for terrorist groups.
