Martun Grigoryan Provides Details on Karen Badalyan's Disappearance
MP Martun Grigoryan from the Pativ Unem faction of the National Assembly confirms that Karen Badalyan, a member of the Gyumri Council from the Our City faction, has submitted a request to resign from his mandate.
"We have had discussions, and I spoke with him about this. Karen shared personal reasons regarding starting a new job and requested that we, as a team, approach this understandingly and accept his decision normally," Grigoryan stated in an interview with reporters.
He mentioned that he convinced his teammate that resigning from his mandate at this moment was not the right decision, but ultimately they reached the conclusion that he should resign.
"At that time, we understood it as a personal issue, which we respected. The situation was communicated to the municipality, the mayor drafted a record, and sent it to the relevant authorities; from that moment, he has been considered a person without a mandate. After this, it turns out that our friend has changed his mind and applied to retract his resignation, a right the mayor does not possess. We have not been able to establish any contact with Karen Badalyan since then, and we cannot understand the reason for this," Grigoryan elaborated.
Badalyan also informed that he is leaving the Our City faction. "Later, we learned that he has filed a lawsuit to restore his mandate," the MP noted.
Grigoryan speculates that the ruling My Step alliance may have influence over his colleague's decision. "The ruling party has not calmed down; they are still digesting what happened in Gyumri," he added.
