Russia Plans to Transfer Some Military Equipment from Syria to Libya

Russians intend to transfer a portion of the military equipment currently stationed in Syria to the African country of Libya. This was announced by the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine, according to Ukrainskaya Pravda.

At the Russian naval base in the Syrian city of Tartus, they are awaiting vessels to transport military equipment and weaponry. The base hosts, among others, mercenaries from the 'African Corps' controlled by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

On January 5, the Russian large landing ships 'Ivan Gren' and 'Alexander Otrakovsky' will arrive at the Syrian port, as well as the cargo ship 'Sparta', which are currently on their way to Tartus in the Mediterranean Sea.

Captain Yuri Davityan, the chief of staff of the 121st brigade of the Russian Navy’s landing ships, is aboard the 'Otrakovsky'. On January 8, two more Russian ships are expected to reach Tartus: the universal cargo ship 'Sparta II' and the tanker 'Ivan Skobelev', which are crossing the Strait of Gibraltar.

The Russians plan to use the 'Sparta' and 'Sparta II' cargo ships to transfer military equipment and weapons from Syria to Libya.
