Currently, there are approximately 3.46 billion dram coins of 100 dram denomination in circulation, which means there are more than 10 coins for each resident. This information was provided to Auroranews by the Central Bank of Armenia in response to a question regarding whether the increasing demand for 100 dram coins will be met amidst changes in the transportation system.
"The Central Bank of Armenia ensures the continuity of cash circulation. In addition to the overall cash demand, the Central Bank also guarantees the availability of necessary quantities for all nominal values in circulation," stated the Central Bank.
They also noted that as needed, the Central Bank can and is prepared to meet the additional demand for coins. It is reminded that starting today, it is mandatory to have either a 100 dram coin or QR code to use public transportation.
