Terrorists Will Be Punished Right in Germany, We Will Show No Mercy: Olaf Scholz
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, has called on the German Attorney General to conduct an unbiased investigation into the explosions that occurred in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. According to him, those responsible for the explosions should be held accountable in Germany.
“This was terrorism,” Scholz stated during a conversation with citizens in the eastern German town of Prenzlau (Brandenburg). His words were cited by the DPA agency. “We call on all security agencies and the Attorney General to carry out an investigation without considering the interests of anyone,” the Chancellor added, stating that this is exactly what will be done.
“Nothing should be concealed; it must be absolutely clear. And if we succeed in catching those who did this, then we will show no mercy to anyone,” the Chancellor declared.
The head of the German government assessed the costs of replacing Russian natural gas supplies with other sources, such as liquefied natural gas, as well as assisting citizens and businesses to exceed “more than 100 billion euros.” According to Scholz, it is necessary to lower prices so that people can still afford to pay for gas and businesses do not go bankrupt.
