Armenian Athletes Win 16 Medals at Sambo World Cup

The Armenian national team has secured a total of 14 medals at the Sambo World Cup, while two additional Armenian athletes have won medals as part of the refugee team. This information was reported by the Armenian Sambo Federation.

On the second day of the World Cup, Arman Avanesyan won a silver medal in the 98 kg category, while bronze medals were awarded to Narek Goginyan (58 kg), Hamlet Sukiasyan, Vasak Barsikhyan (71 kg), Sargis Vardanyan (79 kg), Avetik Poghosyan (88 kg), and Norik Khurshudyan (+98 kg).

“The Armenian team ranks fifth in the medal tally, having won 3 silver and 11 bronze medals. The Armenian athletes competing for the refugee team also earned one silver and one bronze medal,” the statement noted.

It is important to mention that the World Cup was held at the Gazprom Arena in Yerevan and concluded on April 5.
