US Actions Strike Iran's Trade Volume, Says President Pezeshkian
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has announced that due to US actions, the country's trade volume has decreased by 25-35%.
According to the leader of the Islamic Republic, export volumes have diminished, while imports have seen even larger reductions. Pezeshkian also emphasized that claims suggesting the sanctions have no impact on Iran's economic situation contradict the evidence he presented.
It is noteworthy that Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding on the night of June 18, which was supposed to signify the end of the conflict that began on February 28. However, on the night of July 8 to 9, US military forces launched a series of powerful strikes towards Iran.
The US Central Command stated that this was supposedly in response to Iran’s actions against commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
On July 8, during a NATO summit in Ankara, US President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire with Iran had ended. On the night of July 12, American forces attacked around 140 targets along the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf and in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Bahar Ghalibaf, for his part, declared that the era of unilateral agreements has come to an end and warned that if the US does not adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement, the response will not be delayed.
