France to Supply Sweden with Long-Range MdCN Missiles
Paris is making a historic delivery of long-range weapons to Northern Europe. Under a contract worth €4.3 billion, Naval Group will construct and deliver four modern frigates of French manufacture to Sweden and, for the first time, will export its MdCN cruise missiles.
The MdCN system, considered the European version of the American Tomahawk missile, has an announced operational range of up to 1,400 km. For nearly a decade, this weapon system was exclusively included in the arsenal of the French Navy.
This extensive deal will significantly enhance Sweden's naval military capabilities. In addition to the MdCN missiles, which provide precision strikes at great distances, Sweden’s armed forces will also be equipped with Aster 30 air defense systems and other advanced weaponry.
