Armenia Awarded Rights to Host 2027 World Weightlifting Championships

The International Weightlifting Federation has decided to award Armenia the rights to host the World Championships in 2027. According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, this will be the first world championship in an Olympic sport to be held in Armenia.

It is worth noting that during the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships held in Yerevan, Armenian weightlifters achieved a remarkable total of 36 medals in snatch, clean and jerk, and total categories, including 12 golds, 11 silvers, and 13 bronzes.

To ensure the best organization of the European Championships, the Armenian side received commemorative gifts from the leaders of the European Federation.
