Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has urged nuclear powers to resume dialogue and ensure the immediate entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBTO). This was reported by Kazinform, citing the President's speech at the UN General Assembly on the occasion of the International Day Against Nuclear Tests.

“By voluntarily renouncing the world's fourth-largest nuclear arsenal, Kazakhstan made a historic choice in favor of peace, security, and sustainable development. This decision fulfilled the aspirations of the Kazakh people and demonstrated our state's responsibility for the fate of future generations,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.

He underscored Astana's unwavering support for the global disarmament movement and called for multilateral efforts to reduce the threat of weapons of mass destruction.
