We Have Become the Object of Mockery for the Whole World: Dragomir on the Defeat to Ararat-Armenia

Former president of the Romanian Professional Football League, Dumitru Dragomir, has harshly criticized Romanian football and Universitatea Craiova following their defeat to Ararat-Armenia, which eliminated them from European competition.

“Honestly, I expected such an outcome. If we had been deserving, we would have advanced to the next stage, it's very clear. Romanian football, like our society, is in a deep crisis. We have become the object of mockery for the whole world. Just one shot on target, and that too in the 98th minute – from a penalty? It’s simply pathetic. Craiova is a very weak team,” Dragomir stated in an interview with Fanatik, as reported by Armsport.am.

It is worth mentioning that Ararat-Armenia overcame the hurdle of Universitatea Craiova in a dramatic playoff round of the Europa League. The Armenian champions secured their place in the next round by converting a penalty in extra time at the 90+8 minute mark.
