The preliminary investigation into the criminal case against Narjek Karapetyan, the head of the "Strong Armenia" faction in the National Assembly, and Alik Aleksanyan, head of the NGO "Our Way" defending national values, has been completed.

According to the "DataLex" information system, the case has been forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia with an indictment and assigned to Judge Levon Petrosyan.

Earlier, it was reported that a public criminal prosecution had been initiated against Narjek Karapetyan. He has been charged with coercing or obstructing the holding of a gathering or participating in it, as well as materially incentivizing individuals to participate in or abstain from participating in gatherings, and money laundering.

According to the indictment, Alik Aleksanyan, in collusion with Ashot Varosyans and others involved in the case, formed and led a stable group aimed at committing crimes as a criminal organization. To disguise illegal activities, he established a legal entity in preliminary agreement with Narjek Karapetyan, through which he expanded illegal activities, causing significant property damage to the state.

“Additionally, Alik Aleksanyan, together with his criminal organization members Narjek Karapetyan, Ashot Varosyans, and others, utilized their official powers and the influence resulting from them to commit particularly large-scale money laundering, as well as materially incentivized numerous citizens for participation in gatherings in 2025-2026,” the case description states.

On July 21, it was reported that the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia had sent a request to the Central Electoral Commission to deprive Karapetyan of immunity, based on the charges against party member Alik Aleksanyan (materially incentivizing citizens for participation in pre-election gatherings and money laundering). The Central Electoral Commission had returned this request once, but on July 13, the Prosecutor's Office had re-submitted it for the commission's consideration.

A preventive measure applied to Narjek Karapetyan is a prohibition on leaving the country and a 1 billion dram bail.
