During the discussion at the Standing Committee on Financial and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly, the draft law on ratifying the loan agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Asian Development Bank regarding the "Yerevan Urban Development Investment Program" was reviewed.
Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan announced that the loan agreement was signed on November 27, 2023, with the government's guarantee aimed at addressing community issues in Yerevan. It has intermediate and final results, specifically regarding solutions to issues in the road construction sector. The amount specified in the agreement is €60.090 million.
Plans for new roads in Yerevan and the construction of a new bridge over the Hrazdan River were presented, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the city.
Levon Hovhannisyan, the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, responding to the lawmakers' concerns regarding the alleviation of the city's heavy load, noted that several projects are currently being implemented to relieve congestion, expand roads, and construct new infrastructure. According to him, the project for the Tbilisi and Yeghvard highways is in the practical phase of study. The project for the construction of the Ajapnyak metro station is already prepared and is undergoing a simple inspection. Discussions are also underway regarding the construction of bypass roads around the Ulnets, Rubinyants, and Zvartnots airports.
The project has received a positive conclusion.
