Azerbaijan's Wish to Start Delimitation from Tavush: Azerbaijan Speaks to Us with the Threat of Force - Armen Khachatryan
A significant problem has been starting the delimitation process, bringing the field to a point where delimitation can begin from some location, due to the lack of negotiations and the constant threat of war. This was stated today by Armen Khachatryan, a deputy of the 'Civil Contract' faction and the deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.
'One positive thing is that it was decided to start the delimitation. Now Azerbaijan wants to start from the northern border, and we have begun where there are problematic issues, coming all the way down to Syunik,' he said.
In response to the observation that, in fact, Azerbaijan demanded that the delimitation start from Tavush, Khachatryan noted, 'Azerbaijan today does not want to go for delimitation; it is speaking to us with the threat of force. Is it any secret that the military balance between us is so disrupted that we are not inclined to go to war today? Is that hard to understand? And when negotiations begin, we come to an agreement. Agreement is not a concession. They have said that we will start the delimitation from here; we have agreed because it aligns with Armenia's interests. This is not boys' talk. Today we need the peace process, and that is why we have gone for it.'
