VIDEO: 2 People Suffered Smoke Inhalation, No Explosion Reported, Ministry of Emergency Situations
According to preliminary information, there was no explosion on Tbilisi Highway in Yerevan. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Narek Sargsyan, refuted the rumors circulating on the internet.
He stated that the spread of the fire was contained in a short period of time. “Preliminary data shows that there are no casualties. One civilian and one firefighter have suffered from smoke inhalation. They have received first aid,” Sargsyan remarked.
He also added that it is still unclear from which section of the storage area the fire originated and under what circumstances, as the investigation will determine the details.
“A storage area is burning where various goods are kept, including food products and construction materials,” Sargsyan said. According to the ministry spokesperson, 16 firefighting units, 140 firefighters, and police officers are currently working at the scene.
Sputnik Armenia reports that the storage area, or at least part of it, is operated by “Green Life” LLC, which deals in agricultural products sales. Citizens have been sending footage from the scene to Auroranews.
