Replacing 'Armenian History' with 'History of Armenia' Emphasizes Shaping Active Citizens, Says Deputy Minister of Education and Science
Any change that is implemented always faces resistance and there are always people who have counterarguments. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araksia Svajyan in a conversation with journalists, addressing the initiative to replace the subject name 'Armenian History' with 'History of Armenia'.
“But it is important to weigh, understand the justification, and move forward accordingly. No one has talked about studying the history of the Armenian people within specific intervals or periods. If we are talking about our country, our people, our culture, and our religion, then the entire chronology will be studied in school. Naturally, we cannot overlook the phases when we did not have statehood. No one is saying that any particular historical episode will not be studied. We place great importance on instilling in children the notion of becoming active citizens, recognizing their role in the development of their country, and receiving their education with dignity,” the Deputy Minister stated.
