Iran and Oman Are Very Close to Reaching an Agreement on the Hormuz Strait: Araqchi
Iran continues the negotiation process with Oman regarding the legal aspects of managing the Hormuz Strait and defining navigation routes. According to Armenpress, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stated that the parties are quite close to reaching a final agreement.
"Negotiations are underway with Oman regarding the legal mechanisms for managing the Hormuz Strait and determining the navigational routes, and we are very close to an agreement," Araqchi's words were quoted by the Tasnim news agency.
Araqchi emphasized that the current route is unacceptable for Tehran, and the parties need to develop a new route, which entails numerous legal and technical complexities. "Before developing a new route, a temporary route will be discussed, which will serve as a basis for the future route," added the Iranian Foreign Minister.
