Death Toll from Explosions Leading to General's Grave in Iran Rises to 188
The number of victims from the explosions during mourning processions for General Qasem Soleimani in Kerman, Iran, has reached 188. Local media reports this tragic toll as mourners gathered to commemorate the anniversary of Soleimani's death.
Earlier, the Iranian IRNA news agency reported an explosion near the Kerman cemetery, followed shortly by reports of a second explosion along the road leading to the Golzari cemetery. Iranian media indicate that two explosive devices were concealed in bags near the cemetery, and these devices were detonated remotely.
Footage of the aftermath has also been released. It is worth recalling that on the night of January 3, 2020, the United States conducted a strike in Baghdad that resulted in the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani, as well as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of Iraqi Shiite militias. They were reportedly involved in organizing the attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad on December 31, 2019.
