The Situation in Armenian Football is Catastrophic: President of FC Pyunik
If the leadership of the Football Federation of Armenia doesn’t change in the upcoming elections, the FC Pyunik academy’s 34 teams and 2 senior teams will not participate in the next Armenian championship and will not register for the next season at all. This was stated by Arthur Soghomonyan, the owner-president of the leading Yerevan FC Pyunik, during a press conference.
“The situation in Armenian football is catastrophic. The only opportunity is the election on December 23 and a change in leadership. If Armen Melikbekyan remains in power, FC Pyunik will not participate in the Armenian championship, and I will leave football, as I see no point in it. We do not want to be part of the destruction of Armenian football,” Soghomonyan noted.
It is worth mentioning that the club is dissatisfied with the management of Armenian football and has been demanding the resignation of the president of the federation, Armen Melikbekyan, since last year. Let us remind you that the election for the president of the Football Federation of Armenia will take place on December 23. The competition is between the current president, Armen Melikbekyan, and former national team player Aras Ozbilis.
