Unknown Person Places Hand Grenade in Frankfurt Metro in Germany
On October 31, an unknown individual placed a hand grenade at the Hauptwache central metro station in Frankfurt, Germany. This information was reported by the police of the federal state of Hesse.
Search operations for the suspect are ongoing.
According to the Bild newspaper, the grenade is of the South Slavic M52 model, which has been widely available on the illegal arms market since the Balkan wars of the 1990s.
Police sources revealed that the device was placed in a trade hall above the railway lines, in front of a shop. Expert analysis has shown that the device contained approximately 100 grams of explosives. This amount of explosives could have killed people within a 20-meter radius.
The possible motivations behind the crime remain unknown.
