A Bill Presented to State Duma Prohibiting Migrants from Working in Schools, Hospitals, and Driving Taxis
A bill has been submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation that prohibits migrants from working in schools, hospitals, and driving taxis, TASS reports.
The document was presented by a group of deputies led by Sergey Mironov, the leader of the "Just Russia for Truth" party. As the authors note, the bill forbids migrants from working in the "most sensitive social sectors," where "the unskilled labor of foreign workers can cause more harm than benefit."
The initiators of the proposal clarify that the bill prohibits the engagement of migrants in medical services provided by institutions and organizations within state and municipal healthcare systems, as well as in the school education system. It is also suggested to ban the employment of migrants in the pharmaceutical trade and to involve them in passenger taxi services and freight transportation, "where there is a noticeable increase in road traffic accidents involving migrants, including fatal cases."
“The implementation of the bill will help to curb the influx of migrants in these sectors of the economy, providing additional job opportunities for the citizens of the Russian Federation,” stated the deputies.
