Kremlin Disagrees with Pashinyan's Justification on Ratification of Rome Statute
The ratification of the Rome Statute by the Armenian parliament is a misguided decision, raising additional questions regarding the current leadership of the country. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“The Kremlin absolutely disagrees with Pashinyan, who justified this step by the needs of national security,” Peskov said.
The parliament ratified the Rome Statute with 60 votes in favor and 22 against, approving a project on the recognition of the statute of the International Criminal Court and the retroactive jurisdiction of the court. It is noteworthy that the representatives of the opposition factions voted against it.
Additionally, on September 28, it was unanimously approved by the National Assembly's legal committee. Russia has officially classified Armenia's step as unfriendly towards them. It is important to note that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
