Ishkhan Saghatelyan Announced the Decision to Establish a 'National Committee'
Yesterday, we had a meeting with almost all opposition forces in Armenia to discuss a roadmap for overcoming the current situation. This was announced today, September 20, during the opposition rally at Republic Square by Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Hayastan' faction and a representative of the Revolutionary Federation of Armenia.
“We have reached an understanding on two issues and have come to a decision. First, to lead the people's movement and struggle, we need to create a body that will be responsible for all of this, guide the people, and bring the fight to a victorious conclusion. This will be called the National Committee. Second, we have developed a program of steps and actions, the final result of which should be the removal of this evil – the government. The parliamentary opposition will use the process of starting impeachment in the National Assembly as part of this program. We will transfer the considerations of the program formed through consultations of political forces to the newly established National Committee, which will shortly present a plan of steps and actions from this platform,” Saghatelyan stated.
He disagreed with the viewpoint that everything is over and that it is already too late. “It’s not late, people. If we delay, we will lose Syunik, we will lose Gegharkunik as well; do not be broken. We must continue the struggle. It’s never too late.”
