Putin Expresses Satisfaction Over Overcoming 'Acute Phase of Conflict' in Nagorno-Karabakh
The Kremlin's press service has provided details regarding a telephone conversation between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The call was initiated by the Armenian side.
Recent developments regarding the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed. Vladimir Putin expressed satisfaction that the acute phase of the conflict had been overcome and welcomed the agreement achieved with the active participation of Russian peacekeepers for a complete cessation of hostilities and negotiations between representatives of Baku and Stepanakert on September 21. These negotiations will be conducted under the mediation of the leadership of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
“Despite the difficult conditions, peacekeepers continue to effectively carry out their assigned tasks and provide comprehensive assistance to the civilian population and refugees, including by military doctors. The parties expressed hope that in the future the situation would develop towards de-escalation and stabilization,” the statement said.
