UNESCO Features Kochari as Azerbaijani Dance, Then Deletes Post
UNESCO posted on its official Instagram page hours ago, attributing Kochari as an Azerbaijani national dance and cultural value. This did not escape the attention of Auroranews, and we managed to capture the post.
The post stated that among Azerbaijan's rich tapestry, the captivating "Yalla" dance, which is the same as Kochari, stands out. Traditional group dances from Nakhchivan are usually performed in circular, chain, or line formations, characterized by graceful movements, complex footwork, and colorful costumes. The "Yalla" dance embodies the essence of heritage and unity—this is how the Armenian national dance Kochari was described in the publication.
However, just hours later, the post was removed from the organization's official page.
We recall that back in 2017, during the 12th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, a decision was made to include the "Kochari, traditional group dance" proposed by Armenia in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Here are the images as undeniable evidence:
