Azerbaijani Officials Assure Iran They Have No Intentions of Attacking Armenia
The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanani, stated that Tehran is sensitive to the security of its common borders with its northern neighbors. He emphasized that Iran's borders are secure, and the country continues to closely monitor developments in the Caucasus.
“We are in communication with the authorities of Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Armenian authorities have expressed their concerns regarding the possibility of new military clashes from Azerbaijan. However, the authorities in Baku have sent us a message indicating that they do not intend to carry out a military attack. The movements of troops are a traditional deployment that takes place at the threshold of winter, as movement in mountainous regions becomes difficult and confusing,” Kanani said.
He stressed that Iran is sensitive to the security of its common borders with its northern neighbors and confirms that Iran's borders are secure.
