Lavrov on Armenian-American military exercises
The joint military exercises between Armenia and the USA appear strange considering that Yerevan is refusing to participate in exercises within the framework of the CSTO. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“Of course, there is nothing good in an aggressive NATO country trying to penetrate the Caucasus. And I do not think this is beneficial for anyone, including Armenia itself. The actions of the Armenian leadership cause regret. Wherever the Americans are present, and you know they have hundreds of bases around the world, it has never led to anything good,” said Lavrov.
Moscow hopes that all allied obligations with Yerevan will prevail in Armenian politics. “The Russian Federation values these relations,” Lavrov added.
It is noteworthy that from September 11 to 20, Armenia will host the Armenian-American joint military exercise “ARCYV GORCYNKER-2023.” The Armenian Ministry of Defense reports that it will take place at the “Zar” training center of the Peacekeeping Brigade of the Ministry of Defense and at the N Training Center of the Ministry of Defense, as part of preparing for participation in international peacekeeping missions.
According to the Armenian military department, the exercise involves stabilization actions between conflicting parties during peacekeeping missions.
