European Union on the Presidential Election of Artsakh
The European Union reiterates that it does not recognize the constitutional and legal framework within which the presidential election in Artsakh was held. This was stated by a spokesperson for the EU.
“At the same time, the EU believes that it is important for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to unite around a de facto leadership capable and willing to engage in results-based discussions with Baku. The EU is committed to supporting this process,” the statement reads.
It is noteworthy that Samvel Shahramanyan has been elected as the President of the Republic of Artsakh. 23 deputies participated in the secret ballot, with 22 voting in favor and 1 against.
