What Did Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Respond to the US State Department's Statement?
Azerbaijan has acknowledged the statement made by the U.S. State Department regarding the situation in the region, said the country’s Foreign Ministry in response to the U.S. statement.
The ministry reiterated that dozens of Armenian residents are crossing through the checkpoint in both directions of Lachin and claims that "the situation is not tense at all," and that the proposals from the Azerbaijani side regarding meetings are "constantly rejected."
“The situation is far from humanitarian; it is more of a political nature,” stated Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, asserting that they are committed to establishing peace, security, and stability in the region based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
Previously, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller called for the immediate reopening of the Lachin corridor for humanitarian, commercial, and passenger transport.
