Spanish Diplomat Summoned by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Over Madrid's Decision to Assist Artsakh Residents
In Baku, the Spanish Chargé d'Affaires has been summoned by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry regarding Madrid's decision to provide assistance to residents of Artsakh. According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, during the meeting with Spanish diplomat Patricia Serrano Sánchez, the statement made by the Spanish side on social media was described as a provocative step.
“This unconstructive approach does not align with the spirit of Azerbaijani-Spanish relations and is strongly condemned by Azerbaijan,” the statement read.
The Azerbaijani side emphasized the importance of taking appropriate measures to prevent the repetition of such incidents.
It is noteworthy that earlier, the Spanish Embassy in Russia reported that Spain would provide assistance to 250 families displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry labeled Spain’s decision to assist the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh as unconstructive.
