Gangsters Released from Detention for Elections: 'Zhoghavorud'

'Zhoghavorud' newspaper reports: The newspaper has learned from official sources that the revolutionary authorities combating criminal subculture have recently released several 'gangsters' from detention to have them work for the ruling party during the Yerevan city council elections.

However, among the highest-ranked 'thieves in law', there is some internal misunderstanding on this matter. When a dispute occurred in 2018 among a large group of them on Northern Avenue, those with higher ranks in the criminal hierarchy promised one another that they would no longer participate in any political processes or elections.

Currently, discussions are underway in the 'criminal world': if they are to stand beside any candidate or support someone, that person cannot be from the ruling team. It would make sense to discuss supporting Viktor Mnatsakanyan, who is seen as the only truly non-political candidate, not associated with any party, and focused solely on the issues of the capital.

However, a final decision has not yet been reached in that world regarding what is correct.

The newspaper adds that among those released from detention and currently under house arrest is Suren Avetisyan, known as Suron from Leninakan, and another is Artyom Ghazaryan, the son of gangster Zapi's sister, along with 2-3 other 'gangsters' whose names are being clarified.
